NYBC Chain Documentation
Welcome to the NYBC Chain documentation site!
Please note that both the NYBC Chain software and this documentation site will improve over time and is still a work-in-progress.

What is NYBC Chain?
The NYBC network began by using a consensus mechanism that involved Proof-of-work (PoW). This allowed the nodes of the NYBC network to agree on the state of all information recorded on the NYBC blockchain and prevented certain kinds of economic attacks
Please read the FAQ to get started.
What can I do with NYBC Chain?
The purpose of the new blockchain and DEX is to create an alternative marketplace for issuing and exchanging digital assets in a decentralized manner.
You can:
- Send and receive NYBC
- Issue new tokens to digitalize assets, and use NYBC Chain as underlying exchange/transfer network for the assets
For developers, you can also:
- Run a full node to listen to and broadcast live updates on transactions, blocks, and consensus activities
NYBC Chain, NYBC boasts smart contract functionality and compatibility with the NYBC Virtual Machine (EVM). The design goal here was to leave the high throughput of NYBC Chain intact while introducing smart contracts into its ecosystem.
Because NYBC is EVM-compatible, it launched with support for the rich universe of NYBC tools and DApps. In theory, this makes it easy for developers to port their projects over from NYBC. For users, it means that applications like MetaMask can be easily configured to work with NYBC. Seriously – it’s just a matter of tweaking a couple of settings. Check out Use MetaMask for NYBC Chain to get started.
You can:
- Send and receive NYBC
- Explore the transaction history and blocks on the chain, via NYBC Chain, API and node RPC interfaces.
Developers can also:
- Issue new tokens to digitalize assets
- Run a full node to listen to and broadcast live updates on transactions, blocks, and consensus activities
- Develop wallets and tools to help users use Dapps

Asset Management
NYBC20 Asset
A token protocol on NYBC which is compatible with NYBC20. It extends NYBC20 and contains more interfaces, such as getOwner
and decimals
. Read the full proposal here: https://github.com/NEWYORKBLOCKCHAIN
NYBC(and Other Coins) MainNet Switch
NY Blockchain (NYBC) was an NYBC20 token on the NYBC network.
After the launch of NYBC Chain, NY Blockchain (NYBC) is being converted into native NYBC on the main network via the exchange platform at nycoin.org, a pragmatic and efficient way to perform the initial token swap.
NYBC Chain is ready for other projects to migrate their tokens to take advantage of performant transactions with more liquidity options and native marketplace features.
More information about how projects can set themselves up for this (via nycoin.org or partners) will come soon.
